At the heart of any sugar scrub is the sugar, and our attention to detail starts with finely ground sugar to ensure extra-gentle, scratch-free exfoliation. Our blend of Sweet Almond, Avocado and Olive Oil is balanced to be fast absorbing, smoothing and nutrient-rich, while cocoa butter’s occlusive properties create a deeply protective barrier on top of skin.

To Use

Take one fleurette at a time and begin breaking it up in your hand with water. Once you have begun to create a rich lather, gently work into damp skin using a circular motion until sugar has completely dissolved. Take your time! Rinse thoroughly and pat dry, following with a moisturizer. Check out our guide on all things exfoliation for more information.

***Please note that the exfoliating power of these fleurettes is specifically formulated for 'normal' skin on hands, arms, legs, feet and body, and are not recommended for use on delicate skin such as the face.***

What's in the Box

Sugar has a very low melting point compared to salt, making it a much gentler and less abrasive option than salt or non-dissolving physical exfoliants. We find it far less likely to scratch skin, especially when finely ground as in our formulations. Sugar is also moisturizing, serving as a natural humectant that draws water into the skin, and is classified as skin conditioning and soothing.

Cocoa Butter is one of those rare moisturizers that’s the full triple threat with occlusive, emollient and humectant properties. It is also rich in antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties and serves as a great thickener, giving some needed stiffness that help our fleurettes keep their shape.

Avocado Oil is emollient and occlusive, and distinguished by being incredibly nutrient-dense. It has high levels of fatty acids (mostly oleic acid), phytosterols, lecithin, all of which are deeply moisturizing and antioxidants and vitamins A & E, which address environmental damage.

Sweet Almond Oil is an incredibly popular carrier oil because it penetrates deeply with a non-greasy finish. High in Vitamin A, D & E, essential fatty acids and zinc, it is antioxidant, strongly anti-inflammatory, reduces skin irritation, and reduces the appearance of scars. It is highly emollient and slightly occlusive.

Soap is made from oils or fats that have been saponified by certain salts. At present, we do not make our own soap, so we have chosen as natural and non-drying a soap base as possible made from coconut, palm & safflower oil. The addition of soap helps to stabilize the fleurette shapes, form a rich lather, and offer true cleansing properties.

Don't Forget to Moisturize

Even though our fleurettes are moisturizing, the entire point of exfoliation is to remove the top dead layers of skin, revealing the fresh, new softer skin underneath. This new skin is extremely fragile and delicate and needs to have the protection afforded by the removed skin replaced to avoid irritation and premature weathering. It is therefore critical that you apply some occlusive agent to any freshly exfoliated skin. (An occlusive agent is a category of moisturizer that creates a physical barrier on top of the skin. Vaseline, olive oil, beeswax, shea butter, etc. are all different types of heavier occlusive agent that serve this purpose).
